SERA Foundation (i.o): Board Members

SERA Foundation (i.o): Board Members

Help build a new international foundation shaping the future of circular and inclusive procurement.

SERA (Sustainable Economies & Resilient Access) is a new nonprofit foundation being established to help companies transform sustainability commitments into measurable implementation.

We design and support practical procurement systems that connect responsible businesses with local producer communities, creating environmental, social and economic value through circular supply chains.

Our work sits at the intersection of circular economy, sustainable procurement, hospitality, women’s economic empowerment and responsible sourcing.

Rather than delivering isolated projects, SERA develops implementation models that enable companies to integrate sustainability into their everyday purchasing decisions.

Our ambition is to become a trusted implementation partner for corporations, hospitality groups and international organizations operating across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

The Opportunity

We are seeking two Netherlands-based Founding Board Members to join SERA during its establishment phase.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape an international organization from the very beginning.

We are looking for experienced professionals who enjoy building institutions, providing strategic guidance and contributing to meaningful long-term impact.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in:

  • Corporate sustainability (ESG)
  • Circular economy
  • Sustainable procurement and supply chains
  • Corporate governance
  • Finance, audit or legal
  • Hospitality
  • International business
  • Philanthropy or fundraising
  • International development

Previous board or supervisory board experience is welcomed but is not essential.

Responsibilities

As a Founding Board Member you will contribute to:

  • Establishing strong governance from day one
  • Defining SERA’s long-term strategic direction
  • Financial oversight and responsible governance
  • Supporting fundraising and partnership development
  • Strengthening SERA’s international credibility and network
  • Challenging and supporting the Executive Director as the organization grows

This is a governance role rather than an operational position.

Time Commitment

Approximately:

  • Four board meetings per year
  • Occasional online meetings or strategic discussions
  • Availability for advice and introductions where appropriate

This is a voluntary, unpaid position.

Why Join SERA?

Most board opportunities involve joining established organizations.

This one offers something different.

As a Founding Board Member, you will help create an institution designed to redefine how companies implement sustainability through procurement and responsible supply chains.

From the outset, SERA is being developed with an international outlook and aims to become a leading implementation platform connecting corporations, hospitality companies, social enterprises and producer communities across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

If you are motivated by institution-building, systems thinking and creating measurable impact at scale, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Location

Candidates should be based in the Netherlands.

Board meetings will primarily take place online, with occasional in-person meetings.

Please send your CV or LinkedIn profile together with a short motivation explaining your interest and the expertise you would bring to SERA.
